Thanks to a very wet winter, Southern California is in the middle of a “super bloom.” All sorts of wildflowers are popping up, and Zack and I headed out last weekend to see them first hand at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve.
Bright orange poppies blanketed field after field. . .it was unbelievable! Although poppies were the predominant flower, goldfields and lacy phacelia were also blooming throughout the valley.
The poppy reserve was such an easy drive from LA (just over 1 hour), and the perfect way to spend the day. If you can find the time to get out to one of the many parks that are experiencing this super bloom, GO! The flowers should last through April. I recommend (at least for Antelope Valley) getting there fairly early as the line to get in can get long, and bring a jacket or dress in layers! The wind REALLY picked up in the afternoon (see crazy hair photo below).
Seriously still in awe at the amount of flowers we saw. Heart eyes for days.
