So I’m starting something a little new on the blog today . . . restaurant reviews! Zack + I love trying new + fun restaurants and ordering all the food + drinks, so I thought, why not start sharing them with you?

If you’re not in or near Los Angeles, don’t worry, you can add these to your list of places to dine when you visit (because why wouldn’t you want to come to the west best coast?!). If anything, maybe you’ll be inspired to try out a new restaurant near you. And to my local followers, feel free to shout out some places I can try!

Today’s review is all about Perch, a rooftop restaurant + bar in Downtown LA. It’s an indoor + outdoor venue with lounge + table seating, fire pits, live music, and killer views of downtown on either the 15th (restaurant + bar) or 16th floor (bar only).

And you’re getting a double feature today because Zack + I ended up going twice recently (it’s just that good). Our first time dining at Perch was for our wedding anniversary (scroll down for more on that), and a few weeks later we took some out of town guests there for brunch. In order of appearance, here’s what we brunched on:

delicious cocktails [spicy concombre + lolita + dirty martini + penicillin] // assorted homemade breads // the perch burger with a fried egg + rosemary thyme frites // crab benedict + potatoes // shrimp scampi // sangria + more cocktails

Like I said, our first visit was for our one year anniversary dinner. We didn’t have a reservation, but we decided to wing it. We went early, grabbed some drinks, and hoped for a cancellation. And we were in luck! Not 30 minutes later and we were being seated. Our menu selection for the evening:

cocktails [lolita + writers block] // baked brie + fennel + apple // bacon + parmesan brussels sprouts // scallops + sunchoke-parsnip puree + fresh pea salad // steak + crab + truffle cheese fries // more cocktails [penicillin + my fair lady]

Overall thoughts: LOVED. Great vibe + view, tasty food, and delicious (but potent) drinks. I would recommend making a reservation unless you’re just going for drinks. So, uh, when can I go again?

XO – Courtney
