S’mores are the quintessential summer dessert, but living in dry, drought-ridden, wildfire-prone southern California means there aren’t a whole lot of campfires. . .a pretty key ingredient in s’mores.
Now I have (on several occasions) lit an unscented candle and roasted marshmallows that way. Or you could use your stovetop. But I’ve got another solution: S’mores Dip. Grab a small cast iron skillet and throw in some chocolate chips and marshmallows, stick it in the oven to make it all melty and gooey, and dip away!
I made this a couple weekends ago for a few friends, and we all gathered around the kitchen table and pretty much inhaled it. Sitting around the kitchen table doesn’t exactly have the same vibe as sitting around a campfire, but maybe if you light some candles and sing “Kumbaya” you’ll come close. Or you could just eat it all by yourself (I won’t judge).
