Head, Shoulders, Sleeves, and Toes

A

I’m currently finding myself obsessed with 2 trends that are complete opposites: feminine florals + menswear inspired stripes and plaids. My last several style posts have been full of flower power, but I was definitely falling for the menswear trend last fall (see here), and this style will definitely be sticking around.

Might as well dive into this look from head to toe:

HEAD. Yes, I’m sporting a new hair cut these days. Something about January that always inspires me to change up my look. Purple hair last year; short + a little darker this year. Maybe it has a little to do with the fresh start of a new year + maybe a little with my birthday falling in January too. New year, new age, new look? Also the hat: I love treating olive as a neutral, and this hat definitely gives off those menswear inspired vibes I was talking about.

SHOULDERS. Or more specifically, what’s hanging on my shoulder. What can I say about this purse except YES. Hardware details are everywhere right now, and I’m pretty obsessed with the metal rings on this guy. The strap can also be removed, so you can carry the bag by the rings to switch up the look completely.

SLEEVES. Statement sleeves have been alive + well for a while now, and I’m still in love. The plaid print on the top paired with the ruffle at the wrist is the perfect balance of masculine + feminine. I also think this top is a great transition piece into spring. Imagine pairing it with some high-waisted denim shorts and sandals.  Yes, please.

TOES. The finishing touch. I chose a pair of open-toed, heeled mules. But a pair of boots (flat or heeled) or loafers (like these) would work well too.

Are you digging the menswear trend? Sound off in the comments, and share some of your favorite pieces!
